About Elemi Essential Oil
Elemi is a powerhouse oil that heals body, mind, and spirit. This exquisite oil, from the Bicol region of the Philippines, is the product of an artisanal resurgence occurring within the craft of pili tree resin harvest. It was previously thought that tapping the resin would kill the tree, leading to the loss of the beloved pili nut. However, technological advances have created a sustainable tapping industry that protects the trees and benefits the people of Bicol.
The pili tree has a special quality: it grows untended in extremes of dry heat and torrential rains. In fact, the more it is shaken and battered by the winds, the lovelier and more abundant is the fruit crop. Elemi oil increases our body’s resilience in the face of environmental stress.
a special affinity for healing the skin, Elemi repairs trauma and rejuvenates the face and body. Elemi tones and firms the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It normalizes your skin’s natural oils, shrinking pores and supporting a balanced, even complexion.
Elemi oil has aromatherapy applications similar to a frankincense oil. It benefits us during cold and flu season by providing soothing comfort to the head and lungs. Like frankincense, it is a perfect stress reducer and meditation oil. It profoundly improves the spiritual environment. A drop of Elemi oil can be applied to the palms, rubbed together, and inhaled to produce a calming and clarifying effect. When mixed with a carrier oil such as Jojoba, Elemi will help the body stay limber.
The pili tree is from the family Burseraceae, the sacred incense tree family, within which we also find our treasured frankincense and myrrh. Essential oils from resins are purifying to the body and spirit. Elemi has been used traditionally in the Philippines for bodily aches and skin conditions.
