Audio-David Crow at the 2008 NAMA Conference

Audio: David Crow-Ayurveda and Global Hunger

When David first told me the topic he had chosen for his presentation at the 2008 NAMA Conference (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) in Chicago, I must say that I was a bit apprehensive. I was having trouble seeing how to link Floracopeia to a talk entitled Ayurveda and Global Hunger. However, the more he told me about what he had in mind the more I began to see that what he was preparing was at the root of what Floracopeia is really about.
Floracopeia is not simply an essential oil company. Floracopeia represents a vision, as well as a solution, to what our world could be like when understood through the wisdom of Ayurveda and the inherent wisdom that exists in nature.
To quote David from his keynote speech at the 7th International Herbal Symposium:
“In my opinion, the only truly meaningful endeavor for humanity at this time is replanting the global garden. Without a massive international effort to reduce greenhouse gases, stabilize climate change, and stop the decline of the earths life support systems by using plants, all the other good struggles of the new world revolution will be overtaken by ecological chaos. On the other hand, simply by starting the unifying effort to replenish the earths botanical abundance, all those other struggles will become successful.”
Although this presentation delivered a stark and blunt diagnosis of the current state of the world and the urgency that it is demanding of each of us, it resonated a truth that is almost impossible to deny. As David seamlessly weaves his vision of the future and the role we are to play, the seemingly painful truth of our current situation is transformed into an opportunity filled with inspiration and hope.
The talk David gave this weekend was moving, provocative and spoke to the most important issues of our time. We will be posting a series of audio excerpts from his 2008 NAMA presentation this week and next, the first of which is posted for you below.
This first excerpt we’ve posted is some of the solution-based material David presented. I think you’ll find it very inspirational, insightful and motivating.
Please leave a reply and let us know what your thoughts and insights are regarding the audio excerpt below. We read every one of your responses; enjoy.

David’s speech, “Ayurveda and Global Hunger”, was truly inspiring. His insights and perceptions of our world, its future problems AND promise are undeniably accurate and astute.
Absolutely wonderful speech, making complete sense. David’s ideas are brilliant and true. I am in 100% agreement with the ideas put foward. I hope that David can start lecturing and working in China soon enough.
Warm regards, and many thanks.

Hello David and Friends,
David, great to hear you sharing your knowledge and wisdom for the sake of the world. Thank you for living your commitment to life.
I’m still on the farm, certified organic since 2000, holding its space for the future. I will find a way to contribute my efforts to replant our global garden. Looking forward to seeing you round the neighborhood one of these days!
Countless Blessings, v.
Truly inspiring…David’s insight is not only innovative it is true.
His passion and willingness to create change is inspiring. As a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine I understand the deeply rooted consequences
of environmental degradation in China. It’s impact on our herbal pharmacopeia and the importance of the cultivation of domestically grown Chinese Herbs is not only necessary it is imperative to the survival of our medicine.
Hi!
Thank you for sending this excerpt my way — I was disappointed because I wanted to hear the speech in person (I live in Wisconsin, but I’m from Chicago, and thought I’d visit, but it didn’t work out schedule-wise). I look forward to more excerpts and/or a full transcript. I am always filled with happiness when idealism and pragmatism find a way to a common purpose — these are wonderful ideas!
Some years ago I read your book, David, and could not put it down. I share it with everyone I can. I remember, in the book, that you wrote about the key to peace in our world being the reconciliation between masculine and feminine. I wondered if you meant men and women, principles, or both. I keep waiting for your next book…..
I am a student of green architectural design — open to ways I can incorporate these ideas. Hope you will visit Kanyakumari again soon.
Thank you!
David, it was so nice to hear your voice again! I’ve missed your teachings. Thank you for your persistance and dedication in what you do. The awareness you inspire will make the world a better place.
Blessings,
Leandra

Hi, David. Nice to see your news here… Tha fact of Brazil changing foods fields plantation to Ethanol worries me a lot nowadays in Brazil. don´t really know how it´s gonna finish, but foods crisis in Brazil and 3rd worlds countries can only increase like that… how are you ? when do you intend to come again ?
Thank You, Thank You…David Crow,
“If this could be in the wordwide headline news, for the needed time to be assimilated”…
The vision and work gives hope and “oxygen”, almost as we have been dormant, and the voice of truth speaks, so we come back alive to do the mission we were supposed to do ,on this Earth.
A sense of Gratitude towards Intelligence, especially in the form of Plants is a gift for all of us,that is destilled from this speach, remebering that we can look at Plants as genuine reference points, instead of letting our values being driven by illusions, that have no life and do not support it.

Thank you David for speaking about the interconnection of a healthy body = healthy planet. The most important issue of our time.
I can´t figure out the name of the first plant with activity for MRSA. The second one i guess is tea tree. Anyone could help me?
Thanks,
Bruno
Bruno,
There are many oils that may be effective but I didn’t catch another herb other than tea tree in this recording. At what point does he mention it?
Many thanks to everyone for your comments. It is especially nice to hear from those of you in Brazil…I am looking forward to a return visit someday in the near future…and from those of you I have not had communication with in a long time.
I am writing this from the Singapore airport, on the way to India to begin our program with Niika Quistgard at Rasa Ayuveda. You can see details of our itinerary on the calendar page. I will be filming our adventures, and posting them in video format when I return.
In the meantime, we will post a few more excerpts from the NAMA conference over the next few weeks, including some video interviews I did with some of the teachers at the conference such as Drs. Vasant Lad and David Frawley.
In November we will be announcing a series of new products and the eco-projects they come from…many exciting developments here that we are looking forward to sharing with everyone.
Thanks again for your support!
David
The way that you weave the language and let the things we need to hear and think about
pour out of you is always inspiring. I love following the trail to the light of knowledge that you provide. Thank you for what you do for the world, I can’t even imagine what that entails on a daily basis. For those of us making a difference by spreading the word of you (and many other great herbalists) and taking care of our communities thank you for giving us the information and inspiration.
Well, I guess I’ve made a confusion…
I was wondering that this activity of tea tree was found in vitro. But what about the ways of using the plant in human beings? By exhaling the oil makes its efects in respiratory infections made from MRSA? Is this avaialbe yet?
Thanks Floracopeia and David,
Bruno.
David’s vison is at the cutting edge of where we globally need to be going.
Thank you for your wisdom and wisdom of the sages that you are heartfully sharing with all.
Yes, thank you for your journey and the way it manifests in our evolution! A great gift indeed-
R:-)
Thank you David for expressing so eloquently what many of us think!
With gratitude for your efforts and your vision…
