    Hi David

I will be in the LA area Aug. 3 to 13. I plan to stop by The Learning Garden. Any chance you are in the area?

This is a thought I had after the tele conference. Many years ago Burby Seed Company had a program where you could send in the location and dimensions of your garden and they would send back a design with suggested plants. I loved the utilization of space. Mollison says we are missing design and maintenance in our culture. The two could be tied together by teaching people just what is needed to maintain and propagate each plant and educating people with regard to plants that love to be together through the design you might send back. Burby did this for free but I think it is something people would pay for.

Gardens could be designed to address issues of their own health, or issues of community health.

Meeting people where they are in the learning curve is a challenge.

    Hi David,
Great class today! I’ve heard you talk quite a bit about antibacterial oils, and I’m wondering about antiviral oils and how they might be used. Would greatly appreciate your insights.
    Many, many thanks.

    Hello David,
I greatly enjoyed your seminar yesterday. Since you were only able to cover two out of ten pages of notes (!), perhaps you would consider a series of seminars that would round out the Dharma of essential oils framework. Thank you for extending your knowledge and insights.
    Best,
    Maggie

    Hi Ellen…
Here is the study, abstract only, one of many:
Susceptibility of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus to the essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia.

J Antimicrob Chemother. 1995 Mar; Carson CF, Cookson BD, Farrelly HD, Riley TV.
Department of Microbiology, University of Western Australia, Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, Nedlands.

All 66 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus tested were susceptible to the essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia, or tea tree oil, in disc diffusion and modified broth microdilution methods. Of the isolates tested, 64 were methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and 33 were mupirocin-resistant. The MIC and MBC for 60 Australian isolates were 0.25% and 0.50%, respectively. Comparable results were obtained by co-workers in Britain using similar methods. These in-vitro results suggest tea tree oil may be useful in the treatment of MRSA carriage.

  13. Ellen says:

David — Thank you for the study information.
I look forward to the September event!
