AUDIO: The Eco-Spirituality of Ayurveda Pt. 1
Blog by Jai Dev Singh; Floracopeia CEO
Every so often, my family and I open up our home in Nevada City, CA to host intimate evening gatherings with David Crow. They are always cozy evenings by the fire with typically 25-40 people packed into our living room. David is constantly traveling around the country and abroad (currently in India), but during the rare times when he is in town we often have him come to our home and give teachings on a particular aspect of the Floracopeia dharma, so to speak. The most recent of these was just a couple of weeks ago. David’s topic was The Eco-Spirituality of Ayurveda.
David and I have often discussed how the oils, in part, serve as a medium for us to talk about the greater subjects of cosmology and spirituality. When done so through the context of botanical medicine and ecology we are given the opportunity to understand health, healing and the role of plant medicine from a deeper perspective then simply symptomatic prescriptions. When we talk about Ayurveda from this context we’re talking about a system of healing, a way of thinking and a way of living that is based in eco-spirituality. Not only is this the foundation for David’s Contemplative Aromatherapy courses (which the recording below is an excellent introduction to), but also the foundation for the idea of Floracopeia as a business.
Part of the mission of Floracopeia is our ‘Replanting the Global Garden’ initiative through the creation and support of various agriculture projects throughout the world. In reality, these projects are primarily supported by you whenever you purchase Floracopeia products. Every Floracopeia essential oil is a result of a success story somewhere in the world representing models for grass roots healthcare, poverty alleviation, ecological restoration and preservation of ethnobotanical wisdom.
In addition, Floracopeia initially grew out David’s clinical work and educational events. Thus, to a large degree, Floracopeia has it’s roots in the philosophical traditions of the Ayurvedic, Tibetan and Chinese medical systems. The educational aspect of Floracopeia is the engine behind our business. It allows us to take what would normally be any other product-based company and transform it into a multi-dimensional mandala of medicine, ecology and spirituality. We are a company driven by education and fueled by replanting the global garden through distribution of aromatic treasures, ultimately offering to you medicine for the body, pleasure for the mind, and nourishment for the soul.
The talk David gave on the Eco-Spirituality of Ayurveda was profound (as usual). It is rare to hear Ayurveda discussed from this context and I found it deeply gratifying. Luckily, I recorded the entire evening and have posted the first half of the evening below. You can listen to it here or go to Itunes and download it for free.
(Included in the recording: Discussions on the Cedar of Lebanon Project, The story of Savitri and much more)

Thanks William. We had a wonderful time this morning sampling the oils and hydrosols you produced. Great work..looking forward to lots more!
I find myself a devoted mother to a young one these days and so rarely do I have time for extra carricular activities, let alone energy. This blog was simply profound; stimulating to my awarenesses and grounding. Thanks again to David for his search and his sharings. I look forward to more dharma. Isn’t it nice to be reminded that there is no seperation between ourselves and nature and ourselves and all that exists? Best regards to all from Silver City, Daniela Holmes
Truly inspirational. During and after just listening to this Eco-Spirituality of Ayurveda, my entire body buzzed with the vibrations of the plants David was talking about. This has been a healing experience in itself. Sustainability makes it all such good medicine for the earth. Looking forward to the planetary shift with educators like floracopeia spreading this universal love message for all of us. Thank you for the medicine your audio clips have given, ONE LOVE!
