Just found these tidbits about Osha Root on wikipedia:
“Native Americans often observed that bears would seek out stands of osha and consume the plants roots directly after emerging from winter hibernation or when wounded or sick”
“Osha has been clinically verified to possess anti-viral properties and is very effective for treating cold and flu systems of the upper respiratory tract, and other viral infections of the respiratory system.”
“Osha contains oxytocin and should not be ingested or used by women who are nursing or pregnant.”
Fascinating!!
Hi Jai,
I have been using the “Forest” blend in my Aroma Globe diffuser for vata-kapha sinus congestion and I love it alot. Next I would like to try Palo Santo oil for the similar benefits of clearing the respiratory system. I have also heard that it calms headaches and anxiety which I think gives it the added benefit toward reducing high vata. Let me know if this knowledge is true or not.
Can Palo Santo oil be used in the aroma globe diffuser? If not how do you recommend using it for the above symptoms.

Hey Julie,
Palo Santo is one of my personal favorites and can be excellent for respiratory and high-vata conditions such as headaches and anxiety. It’s also a highly effective anti-inflammatory and analgesic oil and makes a wonderful massage oil (Palo Santo/Sandalwood infused Marula coming soon). It’s most famous use is for spiritual purposes with ceremony and ritual and is used by the native peoples of Central and South America similarly to how white sage is used in the native traditions of North America. It’s one of my favorite oils for direct palm inhalation to enhance alertness, respiratory health and to encourage spiritual moods.
have fun,
Jai Dev
Nice one Kari, thanks for sharing. There is an interesting story David told about Osha and bears coming out of hibernation. I believe it’s in the eco-spirituality of ayurveda podcast. I’ll try and post just the osha part at some point as well.
I love the picture showing the urgent shipment! Nice sence of humor! Cheers from Europe, Eliane
Another note on Floracopeia’s Palo Santo Oil ~
I used this oil to make a salve for my father, who has had spinal surgery, to help heal the bones, connective tissue, and scars. I also chose it because of the hot, dry environment where it grows, hoping that it would help with rain-induced arthritis. After rubbing the salve on his back, my mother would spread the extra on her neck and shoulders, where she would often get tension headaches. Not long after, she realized that she carried less tension in her neck & shoulders and had fewer migraines!
Hi Jai,
I feel like such a “newbie” relative to this sophisticated community of essential oil users! My questions are so basic. I just love all the Floracopeia products I have, but I’m afraid my purchasing is ahead of my knowledge base! I My question today is about the rosehip oil that just arrived. It’s stated that it has amazing effects on the skin. So what is the best way to use it? Should it be mixed with a carrier oil or cream base? Does it need to be mixed with other complementary oils for maximum benefits? If you are using it for wrinkles vs. scars vs. eczema does that change how you prepare and use it? Thank you in advance for your insights!
I am excited about your newly arrived rosehip seed oil! Though I have never used the oils from the seeds, I have found great success curing winter colds & sore throats with rosehip cough syrup, made from the pulp of the rosehips. Does your rosehip supplier use the leftover pulp?
In peace,
Julie M.
Hi Jai,
I would like to know if you could recommend an oil or blend for people suffering from addictions or suppressed emotional traumas. I am familiar with Jatamansi’s amazing qualities and have blended it with Lavender per David’s suggestion. I would like to know if there are more choices. I have been treating a lot of people lately that could use the extra help from aromatherapy:)

Hello Donna,
I love the Rosehipseed oil. It is great for any skin type or condition, from wrinkles through eczema. It is considered a carrier oil itself, so it is safe to use as is. If you want a more specific treatment you can add oils you like to it, although they are not necessary. Floracopeia also has the Flower of the sun, which is the Rosehipseed oil mixed with the Helichrysum oils. This one is my favorite. I think that the healing properties of those oils combined is very powerful. I had a lip piercing scar and I have been putting Flower of the sun on it. It has completly dissapeared. Hope this info helps. Don’t be discourage to experiment. Check out some of the articles they are very helpful.
