Ayurvedic Essential Oil Blends
We are excited to announce the newest addition to the Floracopiea line: The Vata, Pitta and Kapha Ayurvedic Blends. These latest aromatic offerings have been a long time coming and the feedback we’ve gotten so far has been extremely positive. All three blends are on sale for this weekend only (expires 4/13).
They are pure essential oil blends that are being sold in our 1/2 oz (15ml) bottle size. We aren’t going to reveal all our secrets, but we wanted to share some of the ideas behind our creation of these powerful new blends.
(We do have a limited supply of the blends back in stock. The sale is extended through the end of this Tuesday if you’d like to order. )
About the Ayurvedic Blends
As tempting as it was to use the roses, attars and oud oils, we wanted to make these particular blends as cost efficient for you as possible. Thus, we chose not to use the most expensive of our oils in these blends.
We put special care in choosing the oils that we knew would result in highly therapeutic effects while simultaneously maintaining an aromatically beautiful blend. Each of them are excellent antidotes to the particular doshic imbalance they are targeting.
The Vata Blend is nurturing, soothing and slightly warming. The Pitta Blend is cooling, calming breast augmentation newport beach and purifying. The Kapha Blend is energizing, warming and clarifying. No matter what your Ayurvedic ‘body type’ may be, each of these blends can be useful for anyone at different times and for different reasons.
Health Benefits and Use of the Ayurvedic Blends
Vata Blend: The Vata Blend is deep, soothing and earthy, with calming, grounding and restorative properties. It is the perfect oil to use any time you need to relax, go inward and gain your center. It soothes the agitated nervous system, calms an overactive mind, provides a gentle warmth inside and supports a strong vitality. The Vata Blend is a wonderful night time oil. A few drops in a base oil make for a nurturing foot massage that will support a deep and rejuvenating sleep. You may also rub a drop of the oil onto the crown of the head to support meaningful, sattvic dream states. Use the vata blend in your personal abhyanga oil (daily massage oil) before or during your shower to calm and strengthen your nerves and soothe the skin. Take the Vata Blend with you on your day and use through direct palm inhalation for an immediate effect (apply a drop onto the hands, rub together and take 2-3 deep breathes into the hands). In addition, the presence of Jatamansi and Palo Santo make the Vata Blend a wonderful anointing oil for encouraging spiritual moods during ritual, meditation and yoga practice.

Inhalation of the Kapha blend provides stimulation to the mind and awareness to the senses. The Kapha Blend penetrates through stagnant energy and can be used to effectively cleanse any space of stagnant or low energy. Floracopeia and Ayurveda
As many of you know, Floracopeia is deeply tied to the philosophy, principles and ethics of Ayurveda. The products we offer, the educational events we teach, and the way we run our business are all influenced by the healing and spiritual principles of Ayurvedic philosophy.
In essence, Ayurveda is a system of principles based upon the inherent laws that govern nature. Therefore, whether or not a particular medicine is ‘Ayurvedic’ is not dependent upon the country of it’s origin, but rather by the context in which it is used. From this perspective, the entire Floracopeia line is ‘Ayurvedic’ by nature, especially when used in the appropriate ways. We teach Ayurveda as a system of Eco-Spirituality which carries a multitude of purposes that go well beyond the practitioner’s clinic or the borders of India.
At the same time, there is a rich and vast history of ethnobotanical culture that is intimately intertwined with the Ayurvedic tradition and it’s unique treatments and therapies . Our approach at Floracopeia has always been to see the larger context of Ayurveda while simultaneously maintaining a meaningful connection to it’s historical and cultural roots.
Tridoshic Theory: Understanding the Three Doshas
At the most basic level, Ayurveda is based upon three primary doshas…Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The balance of these three ‘dosha’s’ (psycho-physiological energies or bilogical humors) determines your body’s ability to maintian it’s organic physiological processes and vitality
For instance, an environment of excessive vata dosha causes a dry and mobile environment which lends itself to conditions of nervousness, dehydration, fatigue, anxiety, overwhelm and a host of other complications. Pitta dosha creates a hot environment that can lead to inflamation, anger, burning indigestion, etc. An excess of kapha dosha creates a heavy, moist environment that may cause excessive mucous, weight gain, lethargy and dullness. When the doshas disrupt the function of the bodily tissues and organs, the result is disease. When the doshas are balanced, the result is health. Much of the Ayurvedic lifestlye and treatments are based upon this understanding.
Even a basic understanding of this tridoshic theory can go a long way in your ability to maintain good health, vitality and ease in your life. There are plenty of books and info on the web to help you further your Ayurvedic studies. However, nothing compares to learning directly from a good teacher.
