Floracopeia Adventures-Northwest Tour
Here is the latest from David Crow’s travels on the Contemplative Aromatherapy tour. The past couple of weeks have included events in Seattle, British Columbia and Alaska.
In Seattle, David taught at Bastyr University (seen here), one of the most prolific Naturopathic Medicine schools in the world. The retreat was held at the beautiful Shangrila Dharma Center, owned by Emily and Jenni Fish. Michelle Scandilis did an excellent job organizing and promoting the event…many thanks to all involved in this retreat as well as the many Bastyr students who attended.
The previous weekend David taught The Pharmacy of Flowers and Ayurvedic Aromatherapy at the lovely Sapphire Day Spa in Victoria, BC.
The final portion of the trip took place last weekend in Homer, Alaska at the Anahata Center.
Some interesting developments are taking place with great potential for a new Floracopeia project. We are now currently working with Sabrina Lea (in the picture to the right), the retreat organizer in Homer, who is in the process of cultivating some phenomenal aromatic treasures which will include rose hydrosol and oil, gulkand, oils and hydrosols of yarrow, angelica, juniper, spruce, hemlock, pine, valerian, devils club and others. We’ll keep you updated on this as it develops.

This weekend David will be teaching in our home base of Nevada City, CA at Shuniaa Yoga. More to come soon…

This was an amazing experience. I did not know what to expect, but received so much more than I imagined. There are no words that can express the gratitude I have for being introduced to Floracopeia in such an incredible way.
I hope to have another opportunity soon.
For anyone thinking about this workshop, please do attend! You senses will thank you; it’s such a pleasant experience!
If my work schedule would allow it, I would be going to each one!
David’s inspired and inspiring teachings, and the Floracopeia botanical medicines – what treasures! David gave a fantastic lecture on Replanting the Global Garden to our medical students, and he was a wonderful addition to Bastyr University’s annual Community Day – really, we hardly ever have such a great turnout for the day’s events as the ones that David attracted to his two talks. Many thanks to you, and we look forward to more possible future collaborations.
p.s. while Bastyr’s naturopathic medicine program is the largest one we have, students and staff from our other programs (herbal sciences, whole foods nutrition, acupuncture and oriental medicine, health psychology, exercise science) also attended, helped organize, and very much appreciated David’s offerings!
My experience in Homer was quite profound…like entering into a stream of liquid light…bodhicitta. The world appeared so vividly clear the following day…pristine awareness…yeshe. I think I connected most deeply with Cedar of Lebanon…it felt like a soft, warm, white, protective embrace. It really is difficult to imagine the existence of such a noble tree as precarious.
Though I’ve worked with the oils for over a decade, and am a Buddhist practitioner…I had not blended them in a meditative framework. So, I will look forward to experimenting. So much these botanical essences have to teach us! I hope you return to Alaska soon David! Thank you!
