Location and Accommodations for September Retreat
We have some very exciting news for you regarding the upcoming In The Garden of the Medicine Buddha Retreat, including the retreat location, it’s accommodation options and food. (If this is the first you’re hearing of this retreat, start by clicking here)
The Retreat Location
The retreat will take place at the beautiful Shady Creek Conference Center located just outside of Nevada City, CA, in the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The Shady Creek facilities are lovely. There is a beautiful dome for the classes (seen in the picture), quality organic meals, 135 acres of scenic land with a variety of exquisite hiking trails into the forest, and of course…Shady Creek (a tributary of the Yuba River).
On-Site Accommodations and Meals
The most exciting news is that there are sleeping accommodations right on location for a limited portion of
the attendees. This is important to know as the retreat will begin early in the morning (8am) and end late in the evening (10pm or later). Of course, there will be down time for hiking and relaxing, but you should know that this is a true immersion and the majority of the three and a half days will be filled with classes, distillation activities and entertainment.
The sleeping accommodations are shared cabins. They are basic, clean and comfortable.
We highly recommend that you stay on location at the Shady Creek facilities, if possible. Here are the three main reasons why:
1. This is an immersion retreat that is designed to give you an experience of deep transformation from undistracted concentration. The less that you have to be driving around in your car from place to place, the more you will be able to hold your attention (and thus your prana) on the subject matter of the course. Therefore, the fruits of your immersion experience will be very meaningful. (The closest hotel is a 15-20 minute drive from the retreat location.)
2. It is far more cost-effective to stay at Shady Creek than any hotel or bed and breakfast in the area. The accommodations and meals at Shady Creek are very affordable (see below for details).
3. And as mentioned above, the hours for the retreat are long and staying on site will allow you to participate fully without being too concerned about your sleep and vitality.
Space is limited.
Not everyone will be able to stay on-site as there are more people coming than sleeping space available.
Please reserve your space right away if you wish to stay on-site by calling the Floracopeia office at 530-470-9269.
For those of you who may have reservations about shared sleeping space, we’d like to stress that you only will need your rooms for resting your head at night and perhaps short periods of time during the day.
To a certain extent, this retreat is similar to a camp, yet still very nice. There is an abundance of space in the beauty of nature that you’ll want to take advantage of during the day, and plenty of cool spots on the grass or near the creek to nap and rest.
Accommodation and Meal Prices at Shady Creek Conference Center
If you received a complimentary pass to the In the Garden of the Medicine Buddha retreat, you and one guest may attend at no charge (except the $25 registration fee). You are responsible for your own food and accommodations. The accommodations and meals at Shady Creek are very affordable. (Please note: Floracopeia is making no money from the accommodation or meal fees of Shady Creek Conference Center.)
Shady Creek prices for accommodations and meals:
Option A: Shady Creek On-Site Cabin Package
Includes on-site shared cabin accommodations plus all meals (an organic breakfast, lunch and dinner).
$75.00 per night before 7/1/09, $90 per night after 7/1/09
(Sleeping accommodations for Wednesday night, Sept. 16th, costs only $45.00 and includes no meals)
Option B: Shady Creek On-Site Camping Package (Limited to only 25 people) Includes a camping space to pitch your tent, access to shower and bath facilities plus all meals
$60.00 per night before 7/1/09, $65 per night after 7/1/09
Option C: Shady Creek meals tickets for attendees not staying on-site One Meal Ticket is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner for one day
Price per meal ticket: $35 per day before 7/1/09, and $40 per day after 7/1/09 (The Sunday meal ticket is breakfast only and costs $12 before 7/1/09 and $14 after).
***Meal tickets are mandatory for all retreat attendees who are not staying overnight at Shady Creek. Again, this is Shady Creek policy and Floracopeia is making no profit off meal tickets. However, if you do not want to pay for the meals, you will not be able to attend the retreat. As this was an unexpected expense that we were unaware of until very recently, Floracopeia will refund your $25 registration fee if you cannot do this. Thank you for your understanding. The Shady Creek Conference Center is a wonderful space for this retreat and we are confident you are going enjoy it thoroughly.
General Course Schedule
Thursday, Sept. 17th: 9am-10pm
Friday, Sept. 18th: 8am–10pm
Saturday, Sept. 19th: 8am-10pm
Sunday, Sept. 20th: 8am-12pm
The ending time each day (other than Sunday) is subject to change and there will be early morning yoga that takes place each day.
Attendees staying on-site may arrive at the facility on Wednesday evening (no dinner will be served Wednesday evening). Breakfast on Sunday morning will be the last meal served by Shady Creek.

Can you please go ahead and book me for the cabin option plus meals? Thank you in advance,
Sincerely,
Eric Horstman

Hello, Can you kindly post the exact address of the Shady Creek Retreat facility. I’m registered to stay at the facility but I’m not certain if I paid for the night of the 16th. Could you let me know if this has been taken care of. Blessings, Marianne and Jonathan
I have a small cabin at the Anada retreat center down the road from Shady Creek which I would like to share with another quiet woman. the cost is $68/night and includes 3 meals (I already asked if it would be less without meals and it’s not:-( However, the advantage is that there would only be two of us sleeping in the cabin vs. several in bunkbeds at Shady Creek. the energy of contemplation would be maintained and this price also includes yoga and any classes you might be interested it.
Let me know if there is another woman coming to this retreat who just is not comfortable with 4+ people to a cabin and would like to share with me. If you want to see this other retreat center go to http://www.expandinglight.org

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii,
I would absolutely love to share a ride and fuel expenses from Sacramento to Shady Creek. I am arriving late Tuesday evening into Sacramento airport, and will be staying the night at my aunt’s house in East Sac. I would love to leave Wednesday late morning/early afternoon and return on Sunday. Otherwise, I’m willing to share the expenses of renting a vehicle, although this is not my first choice!!! Please e-mail me at amynemec@earthlink.net. Thank you….Mahalo and Aloha!
Carmen Hernandez! I am responding to your Aug. 6 post. I would love to share a ride leaving from Sacramento, but I have no way of contacting you. My e-mail is amynemec@earthlink.net.
Thank you!
Hello all,
I am curious to know if anyone will be headed to the Reno airport after the conference to share a ride and expenses with. Feel free to contact me on my cell 480.993.6913. I will be renting a car from the San Diego area and driving north from there to the conference before hand. It would just be nice to not have to keep the car for the whole retreat and not use it until the end. Thanks so much!

Hello everyone,
I am booked for the retreat as a day person (ie meals only at the moment), but the person I was going to drive up with and camp with during the retrwat is no longer able to come.
IS ANYONE DRIVING UP FROM SEDONA or anywhere in Arizona or California within a day’s drive from me, I could drive up and meet them there?
I am happy to share the driving also if that helps.
Also, is there anyone who is either camping off site or staying in a room off site during the retreat who would be happy to SHARE THEIR ROOM and its cost, with me? I have probably met some of you at the 7 Centers retreat when David came and Ruth who runs the center knows me well. So you can check with her that I will make a nice room mate! And also, the perfect driving companion!
Anyway, I would LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU if you are able to help, as I would love to be at the retreat that I am so looking forward to, but the cost of a room and all the driving on my own is right now beyond my budget and what my husband and I had originally planned for it.
Hoping someone out there would welcome a traveling companion.
Looking forward to being there, and thanking you for reading about my request,
Blessings,
Maria
PS I could be interested in your offer Jai DEv if it’s still available, depending on what my expensews are for the driving part of it. Will stay in touch and let you know.
Aloha everyone!
I will be arriving from Kauai, Hawaii into the Sacramento airport at 11:48 A.M. Wednesday. I would love to share expenses with others on their way to the workshop.

Guess my blog didn’t make it on the list yesterday….I’m interested in finding a ride to the workshop also. My flight arrives in Sacramento Wed at 11:48 A.M. Have spoken with two others and hope we can arrange transportation together.

Let’s get together in Sacramento and have a nice afternoon together before registering for the workshop!
Thank you,
Leslie
Hi Leslie,
Seemed like you got it to work…let us know if you still have questions.
Hello,
I will not be able to attend the upcoming event. I have 2 spaces available fully paid for the 4 nights and 5 days at Shady Creek. If anyone would like to take these 2 spaces please contact me. I’d gladly negotiate reducing the original fees.
