Floracopeia Blog
Last year Sara and I were in the San Diego area for an event. I was approached by a young man who introduced himself as both a perfumer and a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which I thought was a very interesting combination of careers. We spent some time talking and I found that he was very inspired by the Floracopeia vision and mission of supporting sustainable production of aromatic treasures around the world.
The next day he brought some of his collection of his own aromatic treasures. It was a fascinating encounter: he had a box full of not just one agarwood oil, but numerous types of agarwood oils from all over southeast Asia, some of which have been aged for 50 years.
I asked him to give a brief presentation to the class, which offered a glimpse into his extensive knowledge. Since that time we have continued our dialogue, and I have now invited him to create a course of perfumery for Floracopeia. This course is based on our shared interest of sustainable, organic, high quality aromatic treasures from around the world, and the Floracopeia vision of applying essential oils in the most therapeutic ways.
I'm very pleased to introduce you to J.K. DeLapp.
Recently, I was able to sit down with J.K. and talk with him about botanical perfumery and the upcoming course he'll be teaching. We filmed our conversation and will be releasing it in the coming days. We'll let you know as soon as the video is up; feel free to share your thoughts and comments below.

I am interested in this class although I am more interested in learning about his Agarwood collection and his sources where we can purchase a variety of high quality Agarwood essential oil. I recently purchased some very high quality Agarwood essential oil, soap, incense, and wood chips in a shop in Melaka, MALAYSIA. This amazing shop only sold Agarwood products.
I'm quite interested especially if the perfume can be used to make someone feels better or good about themselves. So, would be a great addition. But I hope Floracopeia which is the best company for me due the people behind! Don't lose track in the truly meaning of using essential oils.
Sounds like a meeting of the masters....Thank you David Crow and to the Floracopeia team for continuing to provide the aromatic nector so deeply needed in this world today! I am looking very forward to the unfolding of this event!
Very much looking forward to this. Something I have been interested in for a long time. I use an essential oil perfume from Italy (not available in the US as far as I know). The brand is Ortigia and the perfume is called "Fico d'India" Indian Fig. It's brilliant, like a magic spell everytime I use it.
