Ylang Ylang essential oil is distilled from the tropical flower, ylang ylang or Cananga odorata. The name ylang ylang means “flower of flowers” and it is no wonder since the aroma is exquisitely floral. If ever there was a fragrance of heaven on earth it is ylang ylang. It has both a delicate, heady floral note and an earthy musk, a blend of the ethereal with the terrestrial.

The fragrance of Ylang Ylang essential oil hints at its many healing properties. Ylang Ylang is balancing to the body and psyche in many ways. On an emotional level this oil is elevating and yet grounding, arousing and yet sedating. Ylang Ylang essential oil offers us a sense of euphoria and elation, without taking us too far from reality.
For the physical body, Ylang Ylang essential oil is cooling and soothing. A perfect oil in times of overwhelm and anxiety, Ylang Ylang offers us support in a healthy response to everyday stresses and even traumas. Ylang Ylang Essential oil is balancing and calming to the nervous system as well as the circulatory system.
Used for skin care Ylang Ylang is balancing for both oily and dry skin and is also a wonderful oil to utilize in hair care because it balances the scalp and promotes beautiful, full hair. Ylang Ylang flowers are infused into Floracopeia’s Rotuma oil, which adds to the healing properties of this traditional Polynesian natural massage oil blend. Rotuma is a rich, emollient blend of tropical nut and seed oils with ylang ylang flowers that is food for the skin and hair. Perfect for summer, this ylang ylang infused massage oil is lightweight and smells delicious. Read more about Rotuma.
Floracopeia offers two grades of Ylang Ylang- Ylang Ylang Superior and Ylang Ylang Complete. Both oils offer a different profile of Ylang Ylang fragrance. The “Superior” results from the first stage of distillation and holds the heady, sweet notes. Ylang Ylang essential oil labeled “Complete” contains all four stages of the distillation and therefore has a fuller range of Ylang Ylang’s fragrance and therapeutic properties.
One smell of ylang ylang essential oil can instantly transport you to a tropical destination. It is no wonder that a flower that smells of heaven on earth blooms in such heavenly locales.
