About the Course
The science of Ayurveda is a science of health, a science of vitality, and a science of longevity. Yet, the highest use of Ayurveda is to create health in order to optimize the mind and body for heightened pranic energy and to enhance the spiritual process.
Ayurveda is a true health care system in that it addresses every aspect of the human being. Its limbs encompass every aspect of life from food, to herbs, to lifestyle, to beauty care. Its history is rich and diverse and carries within it lineages of wisdom, knowledge and spiritual understanding dating back over 5,000 years.
Its purpose is to create an environment within the person where true health can be experienced and one may be free to pursue dharma, spriritual truth.

The purpose of this course is to teach the multi-faceted and profound teachings of Ayurveda, specifically from the context of creating vitality, longevity and heightened energy so that the purpose of your life is organically revealed to your own awareness and your every day living becomes joyful, elevating and deeply meaningful.

National Ayurvedic Medical Association Conference

Chicago, IL

Floracopeia and David Crow will be at the sixth annual conference of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association. The conference theme this year is “The New Frontier of Holistic Medicine: A Restoration to Wholeness in Healthcare.”

David Crow will speak on "Ayurveda and Global Hunger."

This lecture will examine the roots of world hunger and its solutions as understood by the macro-thinking of Ayurvedic philosophy. The complex interrelationships among economics, ecology, politics, agriculture and human consciousness will be diagnosed using holistic methods, such as the mismanagement of solar energy in the production of biofuels and the corruption of universal intelligence at the micro level by genetic engineering of food. Traditional Ayurvedic wisdom will shed light on the current world conditions, such as Caraka's insights into the causes of epidemics, and the parallels between human and planetary physiology according to Ayurvedic medicine. The future impact of hunger and poverty on Ayurvedic practice will be considered, and what steps Ayurvedic practitioners can take to become more socially engaged. The principles of Vedic agriculture will be outlined, and case studies of using medicinal plants for poverty alleviation and environmental restoration will be presented.
