Cymbopogon validus

Smoky and sweet, with herbaceous notes, this oil is distilled from a tufted aromatic grass growing exclusively in the rugged cliffs of South Africa’s coastal Great Escarpment. Therapeutically similar to palmarosa and gingergrass oil, Floracopeia's African Bluegrass oil has the added social benefit of providing crucial economic opportunities for indigenous peoples.

Bottle Size: 1/2 oz (15 ml)

Health Benefits:

Though of the same family as palmarosa and gingergrass oils (also of the Cymbopogon species), African bluegrass has its own anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory profile and is an important insect repellent, particularly against mosquitoes. Research has shown that, topically applied, it exhibits significant free radical scavenging activity (80%+*). This, along with its anti-inflammatory compounds, make it useful in mature skin preparations.

African bluegrass can be directly inhaled (palm or steam) to address sinus headaches and congestion, as well as allergies. Topically applied, it is also known to reduce the pain, swelling, and stiffness of joints and muscles. Recently, this unusual oil has earned the distinction being the quintessential remedy for sore, aching feet.

Frequently used in men’s preparations due to its particular aromatic properties, African bluegrass possesses both soothing and uplifting properties. Considered an aphrodisiac oil, it can enhance mental energy and alertness, and is indicated for anxiety and nervous exhaustion.
