Known for its strong medicinal qualities, this eucalyptus has an affinity for the respiratory tract and supports a healthy inflammatory response throughout the body.

Bottle Size: 1/2 oz (15 ml)

Health Benefits:

Eucalyptus globulus is the most common of eucalyptus varieties. Very often used therapeutically because of its high (70-85%) eucalyptol content, its anti-inflammatory compounds make it appropriate for supporting the respiratory tract, cerebral circulation, musculoskeletal system, and skin. It is suitable for topical application as well as direct inhalation. Its powerful immune boosting properties make eucalyptus oil a star supporter of the respiratory tract by encouraging the body's natural process of decongesting.  By encouraging oxygen uptake, it promotes expectoration of mucus, and encourages detoxification and a deeper level of immune support especially during cold and flu season.

Cleansing and penetrating, eucalyptus oil may be used topically, diffused or in inhalation therapy to support cerebral circulation, the immune system and muscle and joint health. A topical calmative for body and skin, eucalyptus essential oil promotes tissue repair and a healthy inflammatory response encouraging healthy skin. It may also be used topically as an insect repellent.

Emotionally, eucalyptus essential oil has a refreshing and stimulating action on the mind, helping to improve concentration. Eucalyptus oil is associated with the alleviation of grief and sorrow, as well as opening the heart and intellect while equalizing emotions.

How to Use:

Eucalyptus oil can be applied topically (in at least 50-50 dilution), as a compress, in the bath, through direct inhalation, or diffuser.

Add a few drops to water in to a spray bottle to reduce pet odors and freshen stale air.

Add several drops to 1/2 oz. marula oil and apply as a chest rub to encourage opening of the bronchi and clearing of congestion.

Massage diluted eucalyptus oil (2% eucalyptus, 98% carrier oil) to enhance  circulation and to support the musculoskeletal system.

More Information:

There are over 900 different species of eucalyptus, of which at least 500 produce essential oils. Native to Tasmania and Australia where it is a traditional home remedy, the blue-grey foliage of this variety of Eucalyptus tree, which can grow up to 300 feet, is the source of the name "blue gum."

Approved as a food additive, the oil is used in the preparation of liniments, inhalants, cough syrups, toothpaste and as a pharmaceutical flavoring. It is also used in veterinary care and dentistry, and as a fragrance component in soaps, detergents and toiletries. A variety of dyes are produced from different parts of the plant.

Africans use finely powdered bark as an insect repelling dust while people from around the world use it for anything from maintaining healthy gums to relieving rheumatism. Australian aborigines traditionally used the leaves to disinfect wounds and treat infections. Early Australian settlers named eucalyptus globulus the ‘fever tree’ because of its efficacy in treating septic and typhoid fever.

Dr. Jean Valnet reported that a 2% solution of eucalyptus oil will kill 70% of airborne Staphylococcus bacteria. Eucalyptus oil was also the subject of a recent study which revealed its stimulating effect on white blood cells in support of the immune system.
