Paramount among all healing oils in aromatherapy is Helichrysum italicum, also known as Everlasting and Immortelle. Helichrysum is cosmetically and therapeutically unparalleled in its ability to support cell regeneration and tissue healing. The go-to oil for skin beautifying and restorative serums, helichrysum is potent, safe, and exceptionally effective. This extraordinary distillation, with its rich, herbaceous, honey-like bouquet is harvested from the sunny Mediterranean hillsides and is equally suitable for both therapeutic applications as well as perfume blending.

With more than 600 species, common helichrysum grows on every continent. Very few oils can boast such a broad spectrum of effective therapeutic use, promoting a healthy inflammatory response, cell regeneration and systemic antioxidant support. Helichrysum italicum contains high levels of neryl acetate, the compound responsible, along with its synergistic constituents, for unmatched support in tissue rebuilding and healing.
Helichrysum essential oil is a vital component of cosmetic skin care formulations, and is reputed to support the multiplication of the skin's natural collagen count, contributing to the reduction of wrinkles. Supportive in the healing of wounds (internal and external), bruises, and scar tissue (both recent and established), helichrysum significantly enhances skin health, regeneration and beauty.
Its overall cleansing effect and its ability to support a healthy inflammatory response make helichrysum a great support to the respiratory, immune, and neurological system providing mood uplifting and stress reduction benefits to boot.
Helichrysum italicum can be applied topically, used in direct inhalation, and diffused. Its primary use is by topical application to support skin healing. Very effective in dilution, helichrysum can also be applied neat.
To support the healing of skin burns, apply helichrysum neat.

Apply one drop to skin to promote smooth skin and skin regeneration.
Diffuse helichrysum to soothe nerves and calm the heart.
Primary and secondary injuries:
One of helichrysum's most valuable and consistently cited benefits is in supporting the minimization of secondary injuries such as the bruising and swelling consequent upon a cut or contusion. Injuries cause a constriction of the blood supply to the affected area, which in turn obstructs oxygen and nutrients from traveling between cells, traps waste and produces free radicals. Helichrysum italicum essential oil is therefore supportive to regeneration of cells and tissue.
Helichrysum Oil Recipes:
Skin Regenerative blend: 12 drops helichrysum italicum, 6 drops carrot seed, 6 drops rosemary verbenone in 15 ml rosehip seed and tamanu oil
Healthy Inflammatory Response blend: 8 drops helichrysum italicum, 8 drops German chamomile, neat or diluted in calendula-infused olive oil
One ton of helichrysum flowering tops yields about one kilo of essential oil.
Its name reveals helichrysum's divine nature: derived from the Greek helios, meaning sun, and chrysos, meaning gold, it refers to the golden-yellow color of many of the flowers in this genus. Grown on the island of Corsica and in Mediterranean regions, Helichrysum italicum is harvested in late June to early July. Harvesting only once per year means a more potent concentration of therapeutic constituents.
Safety Considerations for Helichrysum Essential Oil:
