Direct palm inhalation of one to two drops can be used to reduce anxiety, ease depressive symptoms, and promote a sense of peace (a drop of frankincense may also be added).

Diffuse with a few drops of lemon and one drop of peppermint to improve concentration.

There are two types of Palo Santo trees: northern and southern. North Ecuador trees have white barks with large, heavy trunks. South Ecuador trees have red barks that produce twice the oil due to the salty Pacific air, which transforms the wood. The most beneficial variety is the South Ecuadorian, red bark tree. This variety has a high limonene content (62-68%).

The Palo Santo tree is protected by the government – no living trees or branches are allowed to be cut. To harvest the oil, a permit is required and then only dead trees, or fallen branches from dead trees, that have been left lying on the ground for a minimum of two years can be used. The resin is driven into the heartwood when the wood dies and matures, developing it's unique and powerful chemistry. The average life of the Palo Santo tree is between 80 and 90 years.
