  • More About Chamomile Oil:

The word “camomile” comes from the Greek word Chamaimelon, which means “earth apple.” This is a good description for the fruity scent and the daily need for this familiar scent. But the humble appearance of chamomile is deceiving: this important species has an elevated place in old European herbology, and is one of the earliest herbs mentioned in the English herbal tradition.

Roman chamomile tends to encourage expression of spiritual truths. The distillation process draws out and concentrates the prana (vital energy) and rasa (nutrient juices) of the chamomiles, giving us therapeutically valuable oils. From the Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) comes a yellow oil with a rich fruity-sweet aroma, with unique healing powers. The herb has had a medicinal reputation in the Mediterranean region for over 2000 years, and is still in widespread use. Read founder of Floracopeia David Crow's article about chamomile oil here...

Roman Chamomile Oil in the Global Garden: Ecological, Cultural and Economic Benefits:

Floracopeia's Chamomile oil is part of the Floral oils from southern Africa. At present there are about thirty-three distilleries in the southern Africa region distilling a variety of cultivated and wild harvested aromatic plants. Floracopeia is currently working with one of the primary organizers and distributors for those distilleries, to offer common and well-established aromatic products (such as Chamomile Oil) as well as to develop new ones.

Most of the cultivated essential oils are either certified organic through international certifying agencies such as Eco-Cert, or non-certified organic, meaning that they are organically produced but have yet to receive full documentation; the remainder of the oils are ethically wild-crafted from healthy ecosystems. All these essential oil projects are linked directly to poverty alleviation programs established for the dual purpose of caretaking local environments while producing sustainable economic benefits.
