About Silver Fir Essential Oil

Possessing a soft, sweetly resinous fragrance, the clean, fresh aroma of silver fir exerts a powerful calming influence, encourages restful sleep, while at the same time providing an uplifting and refreshing feeling. Fir essential oil promotes mental clarity. This oil blends very well with many other oils, it is one that we often keep near our office diffuser to promote a clear, effective mind.

Like other conifer oils, silver fir has an affinity both for assisting the lungs and complaints of sore bodies. A warming oil par excellence, silver fir can help boost energy moving throughout the body and is thus soothing to joints and muscles. This oil is highly effective when used daily in the diffuser, especially when there may be inhibited flow through the breath channels during the difficult winter months.

Interesting Silver Fir Essential Oil Information

An oleo-resin is obtained from blister-like swellings in the bark. The resin extracted from it, called "Strasburg turpentine", is used in perfumery, medicine and for caulking ships. Oil of turpentine is an important solvent in the paint industry. The residue, known as 'rosin oil', is used in making varnishes, lacquers and carbon black. The resin is tapped from 60 to 80 year old trees.

Many conifer oils, due to harvesting methods, are subject to contamination such as oil and gas from chain saws, wood chips and branches, which add unwanted resins, petroleum byproducts and turpentine to the final product. The oils that we offer come from either wild-harvested or organically cultivated trees, using only the tips and needles, which are hand cut with non-lubricated shears and then distilled in a certified organic still. This guarantees that the distillation produces only the cleanest, most refined oils possible.

Astounding after all this time. Loving Silver Fir!

While searching for something.I came across a bottle of Silver Fir essential oil that must have been close to 10 yrs. old. I opened it up to discover the scent was vivid and as beautiful as when I first bought it. Then I sniffed again to be sure, put some on my wrists and palms and found my lungs gradually opening, my breathing feel better (I've got COPD) and the smell put me in the nicest mood. The quality is impeccable and I love Floracopeia.

Floracopeia's Response:

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Matty! One of the great things about essential oils is that they won't really "spoil." Some will lose their potency over time, but others age gracefully. We're so happy you found your Silver Fir and were still able to enjoy it.

I was longing for this very scent-a scent I went to sleep with when I was a child because there were big fir trees near my house. It is uplifting to my spirit and at the same time I love to diffuse it just before I go to sleep for a calm night's rest. A complete and balanced essence of nature.

Absolute Favorite!

Absolute favorite essential oil! I have been using it for about 8+ years and while the smell has changed slightly from bottle to bottle, it is still one of my favorite non traditional "parfumes" that I can wear on the daily. Great for men or women!

The Best!

better than eucalyptus in winter: I find eucalyptus very drying and strong, and with a child in the house, I like silver fir better. Still opens up breathing.

Another quality essential oil I like to use in the winter or to help with my breathing.

The Best Quality!

I haven’t found this single oil anywhere else with quality. I added this to a feminine perfume roller blend for earthiness and it’s simply magical.

I love adding a drop of this to a steam to give my lungs a lift. Makes me feel like I’m forest bathing while at home. Great for when I’ve been walking around the city and want to clear my inner air.
