Jatamansi Essential Oil
About Jatamansi Essential Oil
This dark green jatamansi oil, also known as Himalayan spikenard, is distilled from sustainably harvested roots gathered from community forests in Nepal. Spikenard oil is an important Ayurvedic herb throughout all of India.
Jatamansi oil is one of the most effective essential oils for supporting a calm mind and balanced body. Those who suffer from worry or other overly active and mental habits will benefit immensely from regular use of this special oil. Jatamansi is calming and grounding and is highly revered for its ability to support deep sleep and to help one work through and release subconscious trauma. Spikenard oil is similar in quality to valerian, but is considered preferable because it is less dulling in its effects and possesses a sweeter and more pleasant fragrance.
Use jatamansi oil diluted in a carrier oil on the bottom of the feet and/or crown of the head before bed to promote deep sleep and positive dream states. Jatamansi oil is one of the most important herbal medicines for dealing with grief after losing a loved one. It can also be used to anoint those who are transitioning from life to death.
Jatamansi oil has a strong fragrance of moist earth, like the high altitude forest floor where it is found, and the distinct odor of the valerianacea family.

Aromatic Profile and Blending of Jatamansi Essential Oil
This heavy, sweet-woody jatamasi oil is reminiscent of valerian, yet sweeter and more pleasant. It blends well with cedarwood oil, sandalwood oil, lavender oil, patchouli oil, pine oil and vetiver oil. Jatamansi oil is one of the primary ingredients in Floracopeia's Vata blend.
Ayurvedic Wisdom for Jatamansi Essential Oil
Jatamansi is among the more revered herbs in Ayurvedic healing. From an Ayurvedic perspective, Jatamansi is a supreme remedy for problems caused by Vata (Wind), which causes deterioration of tissue, depletes energy and creates dryness, fatigue and persistent dissatisfaction. By balancing "wind," this Himalayan spikenard oil will greatly assist in slowing down the overly active mind and will support tranquility and peacefulness. Jatamansi oil is also cooling in nature and therefore is good for some Pitta (fire) related problems, especially those of the mind (such as anger and rage).

Ratings & Reviews
Lovely essential oil!
Jatamansi has become one of my go-to essential oils whenever I have trouble sleeping. I was warned that I might find the scent offensive, but surprisingly, I love the scent! It’s sweeter and more pleasant than Valarian root (which I can’t stand, because it smells a lot like dirty gym clothes left in the locker for a long time). I’m glad that there is an alternative to Valarian root and thanks to Floracopeia, I learned about this essential oil. This is going to be a staple in my home.
One of my favorite oils
I've found out about this oil through Floracopeia and decided to order one, not knowing what to expect. It has quickly become one of my favorite Oils and I use it every night before going to bed. I mix it with Frankincense and a citrus oil (lemon or grapefruit) in a carrier oil and massage my feet and put a dash on top of my head before sleep. I absolutely love the smell! It is very earthy and so pleasant! Thank you, Floracopeia!
This has a strong fragrance, so I mix a little Himalayan mint with it in my diffuser. I don’t use it often, but when I do I have amazing dreams. If I’m not feeling well, it seems to help me sleep and heal.
Deliciously Intoxicating for Sleep
I absolutely love this oil for bedtime. Just a few inhalations and I feel my mind start to relax and release for the night. I place a drop on the crown of my head a few on my wrists and massage some into the soles of my feet. It helps me feel dreamy and drift off more easily. It’s been a part of my bedtime ritual for about 5 years. Can’t wait until it’s back in stock.
Thank you so much for your review, Myriam! We're glad to hear Jatamansi has been so effective for you and thank you for sharing your bedtime ritual! We promise to announce as soon as Jatamansi is both legally and ethically available to source from Tibet again. Thank you for your patience while we wait!
