What is Vetiver Essential Oil?

Sweet, smooth, earthy scents emanate from this thick, viscous oil. Our high-quality Vetiver Essential Oil comes from Haitian-grown Vetiver, an easily propagated grass used to regenerate damaged topsoils and prevent erosion. The roots are harvested and distilled to produce a light, golden amber essential oil with a long-lasting fragrance that acts as a natural perfume base for more delicate fragrances.

Our Eco-Project

Haiti is the leading producer of Vetiver Essential Oil in the world. Floracopeia Vetiver Oil, like all our essential oils and botanicals, is sourced from ethical producers and organic cultivators, to ensure our supply chain is always environmentally and socially responsible, and that the product that reaches you is pure, vegan, and fresh.

Distilled in Haiti, this exquisite fair trade Vetiver Essential Oil is produced by a community-conscious distiller that provides fair wages to all employees, supports local education and youth projects — and works to keep the vibrant Haitian culture alive through community gatherings and traditional music.

As a remedial grass, Vetiver regenerates soils where it grows, making it a sustainable addition to damaged landscapes.

Floracopeia’s Haitian Vetiver is sustainably harvested and certified organic and fair trade by ECOCERT.

When and How to Use

Vetiver Essential Oil has so many uses! Below are just a few scenarios where Vetiver can be a helpful ally.

When Tomorrow is a Big Day

Vetiver Essential Oil is a dream for deep sleep. If you’ve had trouble sleeping, need to catch up on rest, or want to be sure you wake rejuvenated, revitalized, and fully restored, let Vetiver Essential Oil accompany you to dreamland.

Use it tonight and be fully rested tomorrow!

To Use: Dreamland Mist

Use this mist for your pillows and bedsheets at bedtime.

  • 4 ounces distilled water
  • 2 ounces of high grain alcohol or rubbing alcohol
  • 10 drops of Vetiver Essential Oil
  • 6 drops of Lavender Essential Oil, Kashmir
  • 6 drops of Jatamansi Essential Oil

Shake well before lightly misting your pillow, bed, and bedroom.

When the Workday is Over

You’ve worked hard all day. Even though you’ve left the office, the stressors of work have the tendency to stick around, long after closing time. When you need to drop your racing thoughts, put your feet up and relax, try this massage blend.

Use it on your neck and shoulders, rub your palms and feet, and even over your calves and lower back. Your skin will love it, and so will your spirit.

To Use: Relaxing Body, Mind, and SpiritMassage Oil

  • 3 drops of Vetiver Essential Oil
  • 6 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil, Blue
  • 6 drops of Bergamot Essential Oil
  • 2 ounces of your favorite massage oil (try Flower of the Sun Essential Oil Blend)

When That Big Project is Due

Do you procrastinate when big projects are imminent? Have trouble focusing when you need to most? With Vetiver Essential Oil, you can put procrastination on hold and start being productive. This earthy scent will help you refocus so you can spend less time worrying about what needs to be done, and more time doing it.

To Use: Diffuse

It’s simple! Add 4 drops of Vetiver to your diffuser in your workspace, and get down to business.

You can always add another scent, since it is such a lovely blending oil. Try Ylang-ylang Essential Oil, Complete, Sandalwood Essential Oil, Royal Hawaiian, Clary Sage Essential Oil, or Lavender Essential Oil, Kashmir.

When You Want to Set the Mood

Dim lighting and soft music can help spark a little romance. But to open the heart for connection and attuning with your partner, add an emotionally inspiring fragrance.

To Use: Body or Room Perfume

Experiment with various oils, and make your own perfume blend — after all, that’s what Vetiver is known for! Keep in mind that Vetiver is strong, so if you want the other scents to come through more heavily, drop your concentration of Vetiver down so they can stand out.

Vetiver Essential Oil blends well with: Ylang-ylang Essential Oil, Complete, Sandalwood Essential Oil, Royal Hawaiian, Clary Sage Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Kashmir, Patchouli Essential Oil, and Jatamansi Essential Oil. Mix with a carrier oil before dabbing on the skin, such as Champa Infused Almond Oil, which brings its own sweetness and sensuality.

Or blend essential oils (without the carrier oil) in a diffuser to fill the room with a divine, sensual scent.

When You’re Experiencing Anxiety

Sometimes anxiety hits us when we’re least expecting it. It can happen slowly or come on suddenly — either way, it’s discomforting, intrusive, and keeps us from enjoying the moment.

Keep some Vetiver Essential Oil close by for times like these.

To Use: Direct Palm inhalation

Add a drop of Vetiver Essential Oil to your palm, then rub your hands together. Cover your nose and take several deep breaths, concentrating on the scent and breathing. It can help restore centeredness and calm, and bring you back to the present.

When You’re Physically Fatigued

Working hard in the yard, at the gym, training, or doing a demanding physical job can leave your body sore and tired. Vetiver Essential Oil can help ease your joints and muscles, and soothe your hard-working body.

To Use: Massage Oil

Try this Rest and Rejuvenation Blend:

  • 8 drops of Vetiver Essential Oil
  • 8 drops of Clary Sage Essential Oil
  • 8 drops of Lavender Essential Oil, Kashmir
  • 15 mL of Jojoba Carrier Oil or your favorite body oil

Mix essential oils and carrier oil together. Massage on tight muscles, around the joints, or use it as an all-over body moisturizer and let it do the work for you. Great for your skin, joints, and muscles.

When You’ve Had Too Much Sun

Vetiver Essential Oil has an affinity for the skin, and its healing, cooling, soothing properties make it a perfect ally for skin that’s seen too much sun.

To Use: Tepid Vetiver Bath

To reduce the heated effects of overexposure to the sun, add two drops of vetiver oil to tepid bath water and soak, or apply (diluted) onto the skin for a cooling effect.

Vetiver Essential Oil is an organic botanical that can help restore your inner balance, centeredness, and calm while soothing your skin, enhancing concentration, and relaxing the nervous system for peace, tranquility, and restful nights. With no preservatives, synthetics, or chemical ingredients, and always ethically sourced, you can feel good about using this multitasking powerhouse essential oil.
